Aloha KSA members and friends,
KSA’s next show is right around the corner! The annual holiday show is opening on
November 23, 2012 so we wanted to get the word out so you can compile your
great work and be prepared.
This year we’re calling it “BIG
SHOW small work 2012”. As
in years past this show will be limited to small works, 16” x 16” x16” and is
great opportunity for our members to provide affordable original art to the
community. This year we have asked
several gallery owner’s from the island to participate as judges to help design
the show and award cash prizes for particularly strong work. All members are entitled to include up to 5
pieces with one held back to fill the show as sales are made. Please participate. In last year’s show 160 pieces were included
from over 50 artists and there was brisk sales volume. Let’s surpass those numbers this year.
We have included detailed criteria, entry forms and labels for entries
within this mailer. This year’s show is
chaired by Robert Lober. You can reach

assist on entry day, to hang the show and for general help with logistics,
publicity, the opening reception and just about any help you care to
offer! Contact Robert directly if you
have skills and time to pitch-in.
An Appeal to our
Membership!
As you all know, there has been some turnover in the organization over
the past few years. Now is the time to
get involved. If you value this
organization, please participate. Board
meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 4:30 at the KSA gallery in
Kukui Village Shopping Center. There are
plenty of ways you can participate, whether on the board or as active
volunteers.
We are actively improving our communications to our members and
friends. A small sub-committee is
forming to develop a communications plan to keep our membership informed. Watch for coming developments and emails with
details. We are also building our
contact list and membership. If you know of artists or friends who would
like to be involved or who may have been involved in the past, let them (and us)
know! If you know someone who should
be on our mailing and email list please have them contact Robert Lober (contact
info above).
Art Kauai 2012
Art Kauai ran from August 3rd thru September 11, 2012. The show was curated by David Behlke from
Oahu. 54 island artists participated and
76 works were exhibited. The State
foundation purchased work by Michelle Dick, Francis DuBois and Licia
McDonald. In addition, Cash prizes of
over $700 were awarded to 9 artist participants. Look for coming announcements of the planning
for Art Kauai 2013. This year we’re
working on getting more advance notification out about timing, entry days,
juror, etc. (see above). Are there any
interested parties out there willing to Chair Art Kauai 2013?
